Children are the base and life of any community. In Hillsboro, we offer quality education, advanced curriculum, and many clubs and organizations to nurture and train tomorrow's leaders.
Children in grades K-6 are welcomed to the newly remodeled Hillsboro Elementary School. Complete with a rock climbing wall, new gymnasium, football field, and innovative playground equipment, your kids are guaranteed a fun learning environment here. Plus, our interactive whiteboards give students advanced tools that bring learning to life. With approximately 200 kids in the elementary school and 16 teachers, you can feel good about the quality of education, social, and life skills your child will learn.
Hillsboro Elementary School offers several activities for your child to be involved in, such as:
- Youth sports activities, including wrestling, and boys and girls basketball
- Homework Club
- Band (5th and 6th graders)
- HeadStart Preschool
Grades 7-12 learn at Hillsboro High School. Also freshly remodeled and complete with many computers, this high-tech school is sure to prepare your child for graduation and education beyond high school. With a graduation rate of 97 percent and a student/ teacher ratio of 16:1, you can be sure that your teen receives a solid education with an opportunity to grow.
Hillsboro has one of the best Dollars for Scholars chapters in the nation. For the last few years, the chapter has been ranked number one, among chapters supporting school districts of our size, for the dollar amount of scholarships it has given out. In 2015 it gave more than $90,000 to graduates, and the amount will only get bigger. Also, every student who applies for a scholarship from H-509, Hillsboro's Dollars for Scholars program, receives one!
